No longer the same innocent, naive boy he'd been, Dan Taichi put on the fake smile and the fake nice act for the customers, wondering just how much longer he had until it was time for him to go back to his small apartment and sleep.
Shaking his head as the second girl that night tried hitting on him for a free drink, Dan wondered why they always seemed to think it would work. Wasn't it rather obvious from the way he looked that he was clearly into boys? His clothes and his looks, especially the blue hair, usually screamed 'GAY!' after all. Girls just didn't do it for him. Of course, if he'd liked females, he wouldn't be here, now would he?
It'd been a difficult year since his parents had found out about him and decided that no son of theirs' would be gay. That conversation still rang clearly in his head. Either leave guys alone and be with girls or get out. But Dan had enough saved up now after a year out and working that he could go back to school without having to worry too much about money, especially with the scholarships he'd applied for and gotten.
And at least he was away from Tokyo. Osaka had seemed like a nice enough place to go. He'd definitely been able to start over here.
The history department at TPU wasn't the best but it wasn't bad and he could afford to take classes there. What he really wanted to do was to work in a museum, setting up exhibits and stuff like that. Not the most glamorous, but interesting to him. And after a year, he really just wanted to go back to school.
